Did you know that Splice has a preset tab? Tons of amazing presets in there, mostly for Serum. This was a huge game changer for me! You don't have to build every sound from scratch, there's so many amazing sounds out there people have spent tons of time crafting. Your job is to find them and integrate them into the context of the song you're making & world you're building. You're welcome!

Big tip! Need to smoothly do a big key change? (This works on TRAKTOR, hopefully on other controllers too!) Load the same track that's currently playing into the second deck but keep the volume at 0. It will be playing from the same point as the currently playing song is, matching it in the exact same place. Then change the song you just loaded to the key of choice. When you're ready, ideally on the 1 count, quickly switch the volume fader so the track you loaded and changed to the new key now becomes full volume while the track that was playing goes to 0. That's how you do a seamless key change mid-song! Let me know if you'd like to see a video demonstration!

More important than how you mix is song selection and the journey you take people on!

To create a cool reverb riser effect (great for leading into a vocal) reverse the sample, add a ton of reverb to it, then bounce that sample to a new track and you'll have a long reverb tail. reverse it and position it as a riser into the sound you made the tail from!
